Whether you are adding to or setting up a new homecare experience, choosing which home-quality hospital bed, homecare bed or adjustable bed is an important part of the equation. Our home-quality hospital beds range from basic and economical to more advanced models. Homecare beds are fully powered and adjustable. Adjustable beds are available in four sizes and with or without massage. The following overview of what's available can help you make a good choice based on your needs and our great selection of beds and accessories.
Temporary Use Hospital Beds - These Home-Quality Hospital Beds are an economical solution for those requiring some bed positioning. These beds have spring frames and come in manual, semi-electric and full electric models. When buying a bed in this category you'll also need to choose a mattress separately. The width of these beds is "hospital standard", so slightly narrower than a twin sized bed.
Extended Use Homecare Beds -These are high quality beds and are more durable and comfortable beds than the Hospital Beds. They generally have solid steel frames and are fully powered and adjustable. Most can adjust to advanced therapy positions including Trendelenburg and reverse Trendelenburg positions to accommodate a variety of health conditions. They come in a standard twin size frame. They come with headboards and footboards to blend with your home decor. Bed rails and other bed accessories can be easily added to these beds. These beds are height adjustable, allowing them to be lowered or raised off the floor as needed to easily transfer someone to a wheelchair or patient lift. These beds are great long-term care options.
Adjustable Beds - These are available in twin, full, queen and split king sizes. They are fully powered and have independent head and foot adjustments. They are a long-term solution for those with arthritis, circulatory and respiratory conditions and many other chronic health conditions.
Accessories - We offer a number of great bed accessories including bed rails, overbed tables for snacks, and trapezes which assist with transfers. Bed accessories help complete your homecare environment, making it more comfortable and functional.
Mattresses - No bed is complete without a mattress. Options are available from foam to luxury inner coil spring models. Factors in this decision would include how long you plan on using the bed, how long each day a person will spend the bed and the individual medical needs of the user.
Overlays & Pressure Relieving Mattresses - These mattresses provide added health benefits to your bed. Choose from models with air pumped through them, with adjusting gel pockets, comfortable foam layers or self-adjusting air pockets to help distribute the weight and reduce the risk of pressure sores.

SpinLife is here to support you throughout the life of your purchase. We honor all manufacturers warranties. If you run into trouble, give us a call 800-850-0335 and we will get it taken care of. Many of our beds come with extended service contracts. If your product is within that period we will dispatch a tech to your home for repair or trouble shooting.
Will Medicare Pay for a Hospital Bed?
Medicare does offer coverage for a basic hospital bed. If this is a benefit you are interested in we recommend you contact your provide and they can connect you with some in your area to provide that product. However, Spinlife does not bill Medicare.

When shopping a bed frame there are many important features to consider.
- Bed Width - Standard hospital beds are typically 36" in width. However we offer many beds for additional wiggle room and comfort should you need that.
- Transfer Height- This will be the frame height plus the mattress height. It is an important consideration if you will be transferring from a wheelchair or needing to clear the surface with a max lifted height on your patient lift.
- Positioning Needs- It is important to understand if there are any positioning requirements such as a certain back angle, Trendelenburg or reverse Trendelenburg

- Innerspring Mattresses are the most traditional mattress option and are great if you're looking for a mattress that's low maintenance. Innerspring mattresses use metal coils that are as their primary source of support, and are often offered in soft, medium, and firm for each user's preference. While innerspring mattresses are a classic choice for a typical night's rest and are very budget-friendly, they are not recommended for individuals with pressure sore concerns or for users that will be in bed throughout the day.
- Foam Mattresses are made of one or more layers of foam and come in a wide range of models to accommodate different needs. There are models that are just for comfort and models that provide medical benefits like pressure redistribution and protection against skin shears. Foam mattresses can also feature micro cuts and special breathable covers to increase air circulation and regulate temperature.
- Air Systems provide the highest level of pressure redistribution and the most protection against skin breakdown out of all mattress types. Air systems utilize alternating pressure and low air loss therapy to protect against pressure ulcers. Air systems are ideal for users who are bed ridden or have trouble repositioning on their own. If you or your loved one needs assistance with repositioning, look for air systems with a 'lateral rotation' feature. Lateral rotation gently turns the body up to 45° from one side to another to prevent fluid buildup in the lungs.
- Mattress Overlays come in a range of varieties for different uses. Overlays can be comprised of foam, static air cells, and even alternating pressure air cells for mild to moderate pressure redistribution. Mattress overlays are great supplements to your existing mattress and are an economical way to add an extra layer of comfort to your bed. We love that overlays increase comfort, can improve the distribution of pressure on the body, and improve the overall comfort of your bed. Keep in mind that overlays are not recommended to be used as a primary sleeping surface or used in place of a foam mattress or air system if an individual has specific medical needs.
- Bariatric Bed Mattresses cater to users that need a higher weight capacity and can accommodate weights of up to 1000 lbs. Our selection of bariatric mattresses range from foam models that suit users with more general needs to specialized foam models and air systems that are designed for users that need a more advanced level of care.
- Adjustable Bed Mattresses are usually multi-layered foam or foam/innerspring combination surfaces to ensure that the mattress properly moves and adjusts as the bed frame repositions. These mattresses are durable and are designed to withstand frequent adjustments, so you can be sure your mattress won't wear prematurely.
